“Can you keep a secret?” I asked.
“No.”
“Good. I dont like secretive people.”
I took another inhale of the flavorless cigarette and told the beautiful stranger that I just kicked a wrestler in the balls. She laughed as she blew smoke from her lungs and looked over at me with her cigeratte pointed to my eye.
“Well I guess my next question is pointless.” She said.
I laughed next and touched the bruise coloring my temple. It was tender and I had to take another huff of the nicotine to distract from the pain. It was annoying but I wasnt surprised it had happened. This was honestly just my luck.
“Yea well he touched my ass so I have no regrets.”
“Ah so he hit you for retaliating.”
“Yep. I guess getting hit in the balls really does hurt like hell cause he tripped clean the fuck out.”
“Clearly.” She scoffed. I didnt respond and we sat smoking for a few minutes longer. Then some car across the street turned on and blinded us with its headlights. We groaned and I glanced over at her standing with her eyes closed as she waited for it to go away while the light eluminated her. This was when I actually saw her clearly.
She was very gothic and small. A skinny woman with the air of someone who had been through more than they were suppossed to. But she was also very confident. As she stood in her tight black dress and her hair behind her in a messy black bun, she stood up tall. Her dark makeup making her even more intriguing and without being able to stop myself I asked her for her name. She looked at me with a expression I couldnt read, then she smiled and spoke in a whisper. So quiet like she was scared to answer.
“Tell me,” she said, “Can you keep a seceret?”
