He comes to me and i pretend like i don’t want to bite him. There is a ruse in our compromise called friendship. I take the life of a deer and he eats from its bones beside me. Someone enters my territory, he lets me know. If i did not rely on him to find food i would never share it.
And if I’m being honest If i didn’t believe our friendship could be more than compromise then i wouldn’t be letting a bird sit on my back and ride me like a dog. I truly think this could be something more. See he’s not as annoying as i thought and he acts like he cares about me. And i know how naive that is to say, I’m not ignorant to the fact that maybe he doesn’t, that perhaps he is playing me like a human and cackling behind my back with his friends. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was, and if he were to let it slip that he actually thinks I’m a drag to be around or that i hunt too much with my teeth and not my claws. He talks enough to destroy me in a matter of hours, but as terrifying as that thought may be, i must admit that the lull of his voice is still often a tune more soothing than even the howls of my cubs.
Overall I think its safe to say that I have a friend, one who can fly, and who i no longer want to bite.
